EMF shielding top sheet is washable in a regular washing machine (full care details below)
Breathable: It is similar to a high thread count natural fibre cotton sheet.
Appearance: It is a light grey colour.
Feel: This fabric feels soft like linen. We recommend using it above your regular cotton top sheet (so your skin touches your softer regular cotton sheet instead of this sheet).

How does Shielding Fabric Work?

Shielding fabric acts as an effective barrier to EMF / EMR. It obstructs and dramatically reduces the force of electromagnetic radiation (described in physics as attenuation). Attenuation is typically measured in decibels (Db). Shielding fabric lab testing shows the attenuation (reduction in force) for specific frequencies of EMF.

Common EMF / EMR frequencies in Australia

3G mobile – 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 2100 MHz
4G mobile – 700 MHz to 2600 MHz
5G mobile and other devices – currently 3.5 GHz in Australia plus 4G mobile frequency range.
Smart meters – 900 MHz to 2.4 GHz
Wireless routers – typically 2.4 GHz, sometimes 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz if you have a dual-band modem and depending on your settings.

Do I really need an underlay as well?

A Better Earthing fitted underlay and EMF Shielding Top Sheet will give you shielding protection from EMFs coming from underneath and above your body while sleeping. This is important if you live in a high-density location with multiple EMF sources nearby. If you live in apartment, or sleep on the second storey of a house, it is likely people are using mobile, WiFi devices beneath you. This is why EMF shielding canopies for beds often sell with a shielding pad on the floor.

What about my head?

Even without head coverage, this EMF Shielding Top Sheet will cover the greater part of your body including vital organs. It is long enough to cover the head, but generally breathing under any sheet is not comfortable or is too hot to use for long periods sleeping. To cover your head and shoulders, we suggest using a more breathable EMF shielding fabric (like mosquito netting fabric). We recommend Swiss Shield brand as it uses silver coated copper. Even if the silver oxidises (visible as discolouration), the copper underneath will effectively shield you.  Alternatively, seek out a whole bed canopy. We do not sell whole bed canopies as we focus on more portable shielding + earthing solutions.

I’m mainly looking for earthing. Is the EMF shielding top sheet or earthing underlay better?

An earthing underlay alone will give a stronger earthing experience, compared to a top sheet alone.

Earthing strength comes from a combination of the size of the product, body weight on the product, and time spent using it.

Combining an underlay with an EMF shielding top sheet & earthing top sheet (above your top cotton sheet) will likely have a slightly stronger earthing effect than an underlay alone. If you are new to earthing and have health issues (especially from Lupus, Lyme or long-term CFS), you may wish to start gradually and build up the earthing strength by using our Ease Into Earthing Box.

How long do other EMF shielding fabrics last?

EMF shielding fabrics are generally made with silver-coated nylon, with the more expensive bed canopy mesh fabrics using silver-coated copper.

This silver coating is extremely thin. Silver oxidises from sulphur in sweat, bodily oils, creams and lotions, or via clothes detergents containing bleach or whiteners.

Oxidisation decreases and destroys shielding ability. On silver-coated copper fabrics, it will expose the copper and create copper staining.

Traditionally EMF shielding fabrics are not designed for use near the skin due to potential oxidisation. Warranties are not normally given on EMF shielding fabric because of this.

Fabric	Our Patented Antibacterial Grounding fabric is made with the highest quality medical grade (316L) solid stainless steel fibre (40%) and German-made Tencel with natural mineral antibacterial fibre (60%).
Size	All sizes are 260cm long. MEDIUM is 200cm wide (suits Single and Double) LARGE is 260cm wide (suits Queen and King). Larger custom sizes can be requested.
Dimensions	MEDIUM Top Sheet: 200cm wide by 260cm long. Suits Single and Double LARGE Top Sheet: 260cm wide by 260cm long. Suits Queen or Kings sizes.
Washing Instructions	Gentle machine wash with warm to hot water to help remove body oils. If stained, you can soak before washing in an Oxidiser soaker. This helps prevent the build-up of body oils, which act as a barrier to good conductivity and can reduce earthing strength until washed out. Oxidising soakers will not damage this fabric as our Stainless Steel fibre will not oxidise. Do not use Bleach as it will degrade the antibacterial fibre and over time will reduce its effectiveness. Do not hand wash as this will not adequately remove body oils built up over time.
Drying Instructions	Line dry. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean.
Washing Frequency	Wash each 3-6 months (as not against your skin) to avoid the build-up of oils from your hair and body. Body oils do not affect the EMF shielding but act as a barrier to good conductivity until washed out. This fabric is naturally antibacterial and remains hygienic between washes. Please note if you have an allergy to nickel in stainless steel or to 9 or 14-carat gold, avoid direct skin contact with this product.

Antibacterial

Why Antibacterial Fibre?

Earthing products will naturally build up some sweat and body oils from normal use. This build-up can create a breeding ground for bacteria, mould or mildew.

Anti-bacterial fabric actively kills or inhibits the growth of bacteria, including those that cause odour.

Better Earthing does not use chemical antibacterial treatments or additives, which are not long-lasting, and can cause skin allergies.

We use German-made natural antibacterial mineral fibres, as part of the fabric composition. This means this product is permanently antibacterial, or antibacterial for its life.

Other benefits in addition to hygiene include less washing needed, plus longer fabric lifespan and lower replacement costs over time.

Indoor Earthing Explained

This Better Earthing Sleep System comes with a special adapter plug and lead designed for earthing indoors.

All Australian and New Zealand power points have a third ‘earth’ pin (at the bottom) that is wired to a metal rod or plate buried in the ground. This safety mechanism is called grounding – it’s there to send excess electricity back into the ground (earth). Indoor Earthing products use ground wiring in your home to safely pass free electrons from the earth to your indoor earthing product, then to you.

No electricity is used. You can earth with the power point turned off. The top two prongs of Better Earthing adapter are plastic, instead of metal like a normal plug, so no a/c current from your electricity mains can pass through.

For added safety, Better Earthing leads have a 50,000 ohm safety resistor, plus fine wires inside like fuse-wire. This protects against the very rare event of a power surge via a building’s earth wiring. If the nearby ground were struck with lighting, barely a mosquito bite of electricity could pass through this resistor.

Better Earthing adapter and lead conduct earth’s energy only. This is a safe and easy way to receive the earth’s health-enhancing free electrons from the comfort of your home.

You can use an autorange multimeter (sold separately) to verify that your products are correctly Earthed via the power point. Compare the amount of electrical voltage carried in your body when you are not earthed, compared to when you are earthed. You’ll be amazed by how much excess AC electricity your body can pick up from surrounding electrical cables and devices and how much it dissipates (reduces) when earthed.

There is also an optional outdoor earthing rod and 15m lead if you don’t wish to earth via the indoor earthed wall socket.
