Better Earthing Fabric
Our Patented Antibacterial Grounding fabric is made with the highest quality medical grade (316L) solid stainless steel fibre (35%) and German-made Tencel with natural mineral antibacterial fibre (65%).
Fabric Feel & Appearance
The fabric comprises 35% stainless steel fibre by weight, and stainless steel fibre is around 5 times the weight of similar-sized cotton or Tencel fibres. This ensures that fabric with 35% of stainless steel by weight does NOT feel hard or metallic.
It feels soft like linen, breathes well, is strong yet supple, and will earth effectively for many years while sleeping directly on your favourite cotton or natural fibre sheets. It is also machine washable.
Comparison to Other Earthing Underlays
Unlike silver or carbon-based earthing sheets or earthing sleep mats, you don’t need to be concerned about damage from various ingredients in body creams, lotions, essential oils, magnesium oils, sulphur in heavy sweat, body and hair oil.
Better Earthing fabric underlays are far superior to black carbon-coated earthing sleep mats made from Polyurethane (marketed as Leatherette), and low 3-5% silver-coated fibre cotton sheets which are often white with a grey grid pattern.
Both styles are very low-cost Chinese-made products, using low-cost materials, with short limited warranties. We back our underlays with a 3-year warranty.
Many earthing products have only a 1-year manufacturer warranty that applies only to defects. Some makers say their products should last for years or a lifetime, but they only offer a short warranty.
Better Earthing Underlay Design
Better Earthing Sleep Systems are the world’s first earthing sheet that is designed to work through bed clothing and the fitted sheet you directly sleep on. NO direct skin contact is needed. The tiniest amount of body moisture or humidity in your clothes and sheets, compressed by your body weight, creates conductive channels that very effectively pass earth from your highly conductive Better Earthing Sleep System.
By not sleeping directly against your earthing undersheet, the fabric is protected from normal wear & tear, which makes it last longer.
Other earthing sheets are designed for direct contact with bare skin and use silver-coated fibre in 3-8% of their earthing fabric compared to 35% solid stainless steel fibre.
Please note if you have an allergy to nickel in stainless steel or to 9 or 14-carat gold, then avoid direct skin contact. This product is designed as an underlay so no skin contact is needed.

This fabric is light grey and breathable and soft like linen. It is designed as an underlay, for use with your favourite sheets (cotton or any natural fibre).

| Washing Instructions |
Machine wash with warm to hot water to help remove body oils. We suggest presoaking beforehand in an Oxidiser soaker. This helps prevent the build-up of body oils, which act as a barrier to good conductivity and can reduce earthing strength until washed out. Oxidising soakers will not damage this fabric as our Stainless Steel fibre will not oxidise. Do not use Bleach as it will degrade the antibacterial fibre and over time will reduce its effectiveness.

Mattress Size
Universals securely fit most, but not all mattress sizes, when fitted LENGTHWAYS. IF fitted SIDEWAYS, across the mattress, they will fit ALL size mattresses.
For a secure fit, the Universal should be positioned at least 5-10cm from the edge of the mattress (see pictures) so the elastic straps do not slip off the edge.
So for fitting your Universal LENGTHWAYS, ensure your mattress is at least 15cm wider than the Universal. If you place the Universal SIDEWAYS (across the mattress width) the Universal will fit any size mattress.
For example, most SINGLE mattresses are too narrow for the Universal to fit securely LENGTHWAYS, and we have a choice for 4 single bed sizes for a better lengthways fit fitted underlay sizes). The universal will fit securely just fine across the width of any single mattress over 88cm wide.
The 140cm wide Universal fits securely on Queen and King size mattresses. For a 138cm wide Double mattress, the 140cm Uni is too wide to fit LENGTHWAYS but will fit securely SIDEWAYS for two people. A double mattress is 188cm in length.
If positioning the universal sideways across your mattress, the ideal position is under your torso (shoulders to hips) so that your full body weight goes onto the underlay sheet. Then lay your favourite natural fibre fitted sheet on top
EXTRA SECURING TO THE MATTRESS IF NEEDED. If your universal flat sheet needs extra securing to a mattress, it has 3 sewn in tie-down slots (like button holes) on each side. Light weight elastic can be placed through the slots and under the mattress, to hold the sides more securely if needed.

Indoor Earthing Explained
This Better Earthing Sleep System comes with a special adapter plug and lead designed for earthing indoors.
All Australian and New Zealand power points have a third ‘earth’ pin (at the bottom) that is wired to a metal rod or plate buried in the ground. This safety mechanism is called grounding – it’s there to send excess electricity back into the ground (earth). Indoor Earthing products use ground wiring in your home to safely pass free electrons from the earth to your indoor earthing product, then to you.
No electricity is used. You can earth with the power point turned off. The top two prongs of Better Earthing adapter are plastic, instead of metal like a normal plug, so no a/c current from your electricity mains can pass through.
For added safety, Better Earthing leads have a 50,000 ohm safety resistor, plus fine wires inside like fuse-wire. This protects against the very rare event of a power surge via a building’s earth wiring. If the nearby ground were struck with lighting, barely a mosquito bite of electricity could pass through this resistor.
Better Earthing adapter and lead conduct earth’s energy only. This is a safe and easy way to receive the earth’s health-enhancing free electrons from the comfort of your home.
You can use an autorange multimeter (sold separately) to verify that your products are correctly Earthed via the power point. Compare the amount of electrical voltage carried in your body when you are not earthed, compared to when you are earthed. You’ll be amazed by how much excess AC electricity your body can pick up from surrounding electrical cables and devices and how much it dissipates (reduces) when earthed.
There is also an optional outdoor earthing rod and 15m lead if you don’t wish to earth via the indoor earthed wall socket.

I’ve noticed a tingling feeling while earthing. Is that normal?
Experiencing tingling and warmth is a positive sign that your circulation is improving. It’s quite common for people to feel these sensations when they begin using Better Earthing universal underlay. These signs suggest that the earthing process is effectively increasing blood flow and promoting better overall circulation.
I can see two connection points on my earthing universal underlay. Do I need two leads?
No, you don’t need two leads. Better Earthing universal underlays are designed with two connection points for your convenience. This allows you to connect to the wall outlet easily, whether it is located on the left or right side of your bed. Having two connection points makes it simple to set up your earthing universal underlay in any room configuration.
Which type of sheet is best to use on top of the Better Earthing universal underlay?
For optimal grounding, we recommend using 100% cotton sheets with your Better Earthing universal underlay. However, other natural fabric sheets, such as Flannelette, Linen, Silk, Lyocell/Tencel, or Wool, are also excellent choices as they provide effective grounding and durability.
While bamboo lyocell blend sheets are acceptable for earthing, bamboo viscose sheets are less effective and not as strong. It’s best to avoid polyester blends and bamboo (viscose) sheets because they do not conduct earth as well. Synthetic and semi-synthetic materials do not retain moisture as efficiently as cotton.
Moisture in the fabric is crucial for creating tiny conductive channels that allow the earth’s free electrons to travel through. This moisture comes from the humidity in the air and from our bodies, which naturally emit some moisture even without sweating. Using the right type of sheet makes sure these channels remain open, maximising the benefits of your earthing universal underlay.
Do I need to have bare skin contact for Better Earthing products to work?
No, you don’t need to have bare skin contact for our Better Earthing universal underlay for them to work. Our earthing universal underlays are designed to work through clothing. Even the slightest body moisture or humidity in your socks, clothes, or sheets creates conductive channels that efficiently transfer the earth’s energy from your Better Earthing product to you.
Unlike most other earthing sheet underlays that require direct skin contact and use a low percentage of conductive material (3-8% silver-coated fibre), our custom-made earthing fabric contains around 35% highest quality medical-grade (316L) solid stainless steel fibre. You can see the conductive metal with a strong magnifying glass. Additionally, our Tencel fabric is certified as antibacterial and is highly hygienic.
Can I use an electric blanket with my earthing universal underlay?
Yes, you can use an electric blanket with your Better Earthing universal underlay. In fact, it can be beneficial, as earthing helps shield the body from AC electrical fields. Using a multimeter, you can observe an increase in body voltage when you sit on an electric blanket, but earthing effectively brings those volts down.
We recommend placing your earthing universal underlay on top of the electric blanket, with your regular cotton sheet as the top layer. The earthing strength may be slightly reduced for the first 30 minutes due to the electric blanket drying out the cotton sheets. However, once you get into bed, the slight moisture from your body will rehydrate the cotton sheets, usually within 30 minutes. This moisture creates tiny conductive channels, allowing free electrons to travel through effectively.
Will creams, lotions, oils, or heavy sweat and body oil damage your universal underlay?
No, as we use medical grade stainless steel fibres that are not damaged or oxidised by these. Many lotions, body oil and our sweat (which always contains sulphur) is a huge problem for earthing sheets using a low 3 to 10% silver coated fibre. Even sheets with a high % of silver can be damaged easily where the silver coating is thin and cheap and not coated with a good anti oxidising agent.
Washing detergents that contain bleach can also quickly oxidise silver and stop those sheets from earthing.
To understand how robust your earthing sheet is, always look at the warranty period and limitations, especially around conductivity and oxidisation. Black carbon coated Polyurethane products also have shorter warranties, and for good reasons.

I was very impressed with how quickly my underlay arrived and how easily I could attach it to my mattress. I’ve only used it for a couple of nights, but can already feel a difference. I have been using the earthing bed sheet for 4 weeks. I have found improvements in a number of health areas. My BP has stabilised and is sitting around 120/80. (It use to be a roller coaster of readings and quite high). My circulation has improved when I sleep and my arms no longer go numb during the night. And if I start feeling anxious, I find that if I sit on my earthing sheet my anxiety subsides within 30 mins. Overall I am feeling calmer and healthier. My sleep has also improved. I no longer wake up during the night and stay awake for hours. I still have some health concerns but with time, I am hoping these will improve with earthing. This is now my favourite health item and I have been telling everyone to buy one!

I can’t recommend these products highly enough! I purchased the Premium Universal Underlay for myself and the Premium Fitted Queen Sheet for my parents. It’s a miracle enough that my Dad is sleeping through the night for the first time in years (I believe this is due to all the cortisol in his body finally having an exit point) and for myself I regularly find myself at night with what can be described as constant low-grade pain flowing through my veins and it has helped that a lot. Just buy them, what have you got to lose. You will feel better, and why else are we working if we can’t help ourselves at least feel ok?

We live in the USA, and customer service was exceptional at answering all of my questions and making sure the ordering process was smooth and easy. Our shipment came very quickly, was so nicely packaged, and had everything we needed to use in the states.
This underlay has been by far the best earthing product we’ve ever used. I started earthing about 7 years ago with the silver half sheet to treat symptoms associate with chronic inflammatory response syndrome (sometimes called, mold illness). I noticed immediate relief from digestive pain, and earthing also helped with brain fog. Since that first half sheet, I’ve also used the carbon products and (sadly) a cheap knock-off. But none of these compare to this stainless steel product at BE!!
We are in our 40s. I’ve recovered from CIRS, but we continue to earth for the many other benefits we’ve noticed over the years such as fewer aches and pains, deeper sleep, not waking up as often, falling back to sleep quicker when we do wake up, quicker recovery from workouts, and increased calm during stressful days.
I’ll admit, we were slightly skeptical at first at putting the product under the bed sheet since all other earthing products work best with direct skin contact, but our very first night put that skepticism to bed (pun intended) 🙂 With two people, it isn’t difficult to position the underlay across the bed, and I’m thrilled at not needing to wash it frequently. The effect of this underlay is subtle compared to other earthing products I have used. I’ve proven it works by using a multimeter, it’s impressive to see the reading just after waking and reassuring considering the cost of the product. For me it has not helped with my sleep but after two months use my body does feel more relaxed with far less minor niggles compared to before. If you can afford it it’s worth it to have this underlay version of earthing product. It makes it easy and passive to earth instead of needing to remember to make time to connect. I’m happy with this product.
